We’re pleased to announce new product capabilities in Blackboard Collaborate, available immediately to Collaborate users.

Dial into a session
We’ve added the ability for participants to dial into a Collaborate session via phone, so they can participate hands-free in a session. Participants have a unique number, and so instructors and other students will know who is speaking no matter how they participate in a course. With the addition of phone access and access via Bb Student, participants now have a variety of ways to engage in their teaching and learning experiences.

Schedule sessions seamlessly
We’ve made scheduling sessions drop-dead simple, so moderators can easily schedule sessions, change the meeting times, and view and playback recordings of completed sessions.

Meet up to 100 participants, in a variety of browsers
We’ve increased the participant capacity in Collaborate to 100, to support larger class sizes with the same high quality audio and video of a smaller session. And participants can join via a variety of browsers, including Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Microsoft Internet Explorer, and Apple Safari, providing flexibility for teaching and learning.

Privately chat with moderators
Participants can now switch between chatting with an entire group, and chatting only with moderators. Clarify assignments, offer private help and support, and enhance learning with focused attention; spend time with students that need your help and support.

We hope you find these new capabilities valuable, and we’re pleased to incrementally and continuously improve Collaborate and our other products. Learn more about Collaborate here, and learn more about how you can leverage Collaborate via Bb Student here.
