Hey Google, Meet Blackboard Learn

Blackboard continues to work with our EdTech partners to identify opportunities to ensure continuity of education for students in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. This moment in education is bigger than any single technology solution or provider. We all need to work together to support continuity of learning, and who better than Google and Blackboard to make this happen. Having identified that many of our K-20 clients already have licensed the G Suite for Education, we reached out to Google to see how we can align our efforts and bring added value to the education community. Through our partnership, we identified an opportunity to pull together an integrated team to create and deploy a standards-compliant LTI integration between Blackboard Learn and users with a Google EDU account. As a result, our mutual clients can now create and share a Google Meet link directly from any Blackboard Learn course (both Original and Ultra Experiences).  

Google announced on April 9th that they will be extending free access to premium features in Meet to all G Suite for Education users until September 30th to accommodate for summer programming and other institutional needs. These features include having up to 250 people in a call together, recording meetings, and live streaming content for up to 100,000 people within the domain.
