Congratulations Fix Your Content Day 2021 Winners

On May 20, we joined forces with our Blackboard Ally community to celebrate the 10th annual Global Accessibility Awareness Day (GAAD). The purpose of GAAD is to get everyone talking, thinking, and learning about digital access, inclusion, and the more than one billion people on the planet with disabilities/impairments.

To support the mission and spirit of the day, we hosted our second annual Fix Your Content Day, a 24-hour global competition that creates more accessible and inclusive digital learning content. 115 colleges and universities spanning 4 continents, 7 countries, and 30 U.S. states participated in the challenge. Collectively, these participants improved over 108,000-course files, nearly doubling last year's Fix Your Content Day total.

“Around the world and in a big way, colleges and universities took up the challenge and shined a light on accessibility in the digital classroom,” said Dan Loury, Senior Product Management Director at Blackboard. “As a community, we know one day and one competition isn’t the end, rather the beginning in a journey toward learning experiences that are more inclusive, equitable and accessible.”

While all participants in the Ally community are champions of inclusion in their own right as each and every day, they strive to improve the educational experience for all learners on their respective campuses. We’d like to recognize the global and regional Fix Your Content Day winners and the achievement club recipients.
