After more than seven months of planning, countless hours in teleconferences, and weeks of preparation it seems like the 4th Annual Blackboard Building Blocks Conference was over all too quickly!  The two full days of the conference with its five tracks and 40 sessions was a whirlwind of information, provided lots of networking opportunities, there were many technical demonstrations, and we all had oodles of fun.  Who came?  The 170 attendees represented 31 states, two Canadian provinces, and seven countries.

Michael Chasen, Blackboard’s president and CEO opened up the conference with a dynamic keynote presentation with information about Blackboard’s product roadmap, new features for Building Blocks developers, and insights into some new and exciting projects we’ll be launching this fall.

One of the things I’m most excited about is

our project to knit together the Blackboard Building Blocks and Blackboard PowerLinks developer communities into the Blackboard Developer Network.  Today with these developer communities combined, the Blackboard Developer Network has more than 1060 members and 235+ extensions to Blackboard software platforms available!  It is exciting to have so many clever and creative developers using our open Building Blocks and PowerLinks architectures to make a real difference in the e-Learning experience of teachers, students at institutions around the world.

It wasn’t all work and no play for our conference-goers!  We enjoyed an evening of fun at Lucky Strike where we enjoyed the bowling lanes, pool tables, and fabulous food.  I took a few photos of the conference.
