Announcing Blackboard Unite for K-12: Partnering With K-12 Districts Through a Comprehensive Shift to Virtual Learning

As K-12 districts across the US are adjusting to remote instruction in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, educators, parents, and students alike are being thrust into the world of virtual learning, with no clear timeline for how long before students can safely return to school. As a parent, I’m watching intently to see how my own kids are adapting to daily online check-ins and self-paced learning. In my other full-time job, as an EdTech leader at Blackboard, I spend a lot of my time focused on how we can use our technology to support the education community through this transition.

At Blackboard, we have worked for decades to create the most comprehensive, tested, and proven tools available for just this purpose. While K-12 has historically maintained a focus on face-to-face learning, this crisis has forced districts to quickly adopt and deploy a plan to keep instruction going. What is surely an uncertain and frightening time for everyone can also serve as an opportunity for districts to make helpful changes that will pay dividends into the future. It’s an opportunity to ensure that education is more accessible for all learners, build bridges between parents and educators, and engage students like never before.

In response to this rapidly changing time, we are excited to announce Blackboard Unite for K-12, a holistic and comprehensive set of technology tools for remote and blended learning. This turn-key solution includes our robust learning management system, Blackboard Learn, our secure virtual classroom solution, Blackboard Collaborate, our unmatched accessibility solution, Blackboard Ally, our district branded mobile app, and teacher-to-home communication tools.

By combining these solutions, districts can quickly and effectively engage students both inside and outside of the classroom, keep parents and communities safe and informed, and help teachers reach the families they serve to maximize student success.

We remain committed to advancing learning no matter where it happens – in the classroom and at home. Supporting education, especially in a time of uncertainty, is our passion and our responsibility.
