As part of our mission to reimagine education, it is important for us to give back to the industry we serve. We are always looking for ways that we can partner with schools to help them tackle some of the big problems they are facing and be more than just a technology vendor.

As part of this effort, every year at BbWorld we sponsor “Tools of the Trade,” a local community service project in Las Vegas that provides school supplies, like glue sticks, pencils, and dry erase markers, to schools that would greatly benefit from even a little extra help. So many teachers buy school supplies each year for their students out of their own pockets. At a disadvantaged school, any type of donation minimizes the stress many teachers already face.

This year, Dr. Claude G. Perkins Elementary School, an at-risk title 1 school in Clark County School District, will receive a $10,000 donation worth of school supplies from Blackboard in order to better their access to education and help set them up for success in their studies. This very deserving school caters to about 800 students and offers seven special needs programs. To a school that does so much to help grow and support their students, having school supplies donated is one less thing they need to worry about.

We are asking all of our customers, partners, and industry peers that are coming to BbWorld – or not – to play a part and get involved. A few dollars can go a long way towards buying supplies. A donation of any level will help a student have more flexibility in the classroom and, ultimately, succeed. Things like markers and crayons, while small in scale, can really help a student explore their true potential.
