It’s always exciting to see government and military organizations be recognized for innovations in training. We are pleased to congratulate the VA Acquisition Academy (VAAA) for their Innovation honor at this past week’s Training Officer’s Consortium (TOC) annual awards. The VAAA’s Program Management School received the accolade for its Federal Acquisition Certification-Contracting Officer’s Representative (FAC-COR) Team.
In the face of reduced funding for travel amongst other challenges, the VAAA was able to redesign their FAC-COR training without sacrificing the needs of those within the workforce. The VAAA’s program consisted of a pioneering virtual learning tool which combines both e-learning and face-to-face engagement. It is the first government agency to offer such a course.
The VAAA’s FAC-COR training program was acknowledged both for its flexible structure, its effective measurement tools and its fiscal savings— it is estimated that the VA will save $900,000 in expenses annually because of reduced travel costs. The VAAA plans to use pre and post course assessments to measure the course’s success. Recent assessments show that participants’ confidence in performing COR tasks improved by more than 30 percent.
It is a great honor for Blackboard to work with inventive organizations like the VAAA. It is their commitment to innovative problem solving that fuels effective results and allows us to continue developing advanced learning methods.
