Blackboard’s Karl Engkvist sits down with Ken Royal at Scholastic Administr@tor

The last month or two have been very busy for us. First, we launched a significant new product:  Blackboard Connect for Teachers, a mass notification tool for K-12 instructors. This new feature – available now to most Blackboard Connect clients – allows teachers to send phone messages to every child’s parent, in one of 22 languages. Next we announced the acquisition of Saf-T-Net, provider of the AlertNow service, which broadens our mass notification offerings and expands our K-12 client base.

These announcements certainly attracted notice from the press;  for example, this story on Blackboard Connect for Teachers in THE Journal,  or this story on AlertNow in the Raleigh News and Observer.

To put both stories into context, though, look no further than the Royal Treatment, the blog written by Ken Royal of Scholastic Administr@tor magazine. Ken also publishes another, separate website for educators at educatorsroyaltreatment.com. Both are great resources for keeping up with the latest in ed-tech.

Blackboard Connect executive Karl Engkvist sat down with Ken for a wide-ranging interview a few weeks ago. They they spoke about the importance of parental engagement, and the role that Blackboard Connect can play in driving school districts’ achievement goals. You can listen for yourself here:
