Now, more than ever before, learners are exercising choice to ensure they receive the right services and support to meet and fulfill their needs. We are dedicated to providing them with the tools and resources they need to be successful as their expectations grow around what their higher education experience should be. Today’s announcement of our acquisition of Perceptis is a meaningful step in the evolution of our company to help us meet this goal. Let me explain.
We have offered various education services to higher education institutions for years, including student support services. Through these services, we support millions of students across 500 institutions all over the world. These range from helping support student recruitment, enrollment, financial aid and administrative services, to technical support. Designed specifically to give students a consistent and unified experience, our services are designed to support learners through their educational pathway by providing support anytime of the day or night.
These student lifecycle services are available to ALL institutions regardless if they use Blackboard Learn, Blackboard Collaborate, Blackboard Connect….they are available regardless if ANY of our technology solutions are used. Our Education Services division sets us apart. It allows us to take a truly holistic view of education – well beyond any point solution – and help institutions create the best educational experience for their students. Period.
The acquisition of Perceptis is our way of showing our dedication to growing this division. Learners are exercising choice to ensure they receive the right services and support to meet and fulfill their needs. And these learners are increasingly non-traditional students – such as parents, off-campus, working adults – who need seamless access to these services at their convenience. These trends have caused an increasing need for institutions to mirror successful business practices and position themselves with a competitive advantage: showing students explicitly that the services they provide are highly relevant, accessible, personal and focused on learner success.
By adding Perceptis – which is based in Greenville, South Carolina and Phoenix, Arizona – to the Blackboard family, we are able to expand our services efforts and learn from their successful practices, including a highly-personalized customer service model. With Perceptis and Blackboard together, we will go to market providing affordable, scalable, and personalized service solutions that will help deliver the experience students demand. We will increase satisfaction and engagement by addressing the need for speed, choice, and customization.
Perceptis is the second acquisition we have announced this year and with Jay as our CEO. Like MyEdu, this move is deeply strategic. We are in the midst of implementing a new business strategy that is keenly focused on providing more value to students. With the many touch points students have to an institution, and vice versa, there is a strong need for a more seamless experience with and immediate access to critical campus services. We are delivering on this.
