So you see another blog post from Karen and you think, "More news on Scholar or Beyond. Cool." Or at least I imagine that you think that. But today, you couldn’t be more wrong. I’ve got a new job. On Friday, I became the new VP, Product Strategy for Blackboard.
I’m happy to say I’m still managing the Blackboard Beyond Initiative, but now I’ll also be working to set product directions across the board. Not that we at Blackboard haven’t been doing product strategy all along. We just decided that it was time to break it out as a separate organization given the expansion of our product portfolio.
After all, we did add the Blackboard Outcomes System and Scholar at the turn of the year (not to mention the legacy WebCT products a little more than a year ago). One of the best things about having worked on Scholar is that it’s really closely tied to where our learning solutions are headed overall; nice Web 2.0 interface, social learning tools, same tool for users of different Blackboard Learning System flavors, etc.
One thing is for sure – there’s a lot of exciting developments underway that we’ll need your feedback on. BbWorld ’07 is going to be a great forum for that. In addition to sharing our plans in the keynotes and roadmap presentations, we also have several Listening Sessions planned on a range of topics from Support/Services to Future Product Directions. And we’ve got a bunch of focus groups planned, too. Hey, I know not everyone can go – travel budgets and all. But there’s always some request for participation going out to our BIE members (and that’s all virtual).
Ok, I can’t resist blogging about Scholar, so here it is. Favorite site I found on Scholar recently: Facebook group set up by Santo Nucifora for people going to BbWorld ’07.
