Education Leaders Gather in Singapore for SBUG 2012

It was great being part of the first Singapore Blackboard User Group (SBUG) Seminar which was held at Ngee Ann Polytechnic. I like User Groups because they provide an opportunity for our local community to come together. This event in particular allows for clients to share ideas for future uses of our platforms and how they are partnering with Blackboard to achieve pedagogical results for their institutions. View the video from our event: The SBUG Seminar attracted more than 130 clients who came together to hear from speakers such as the National Institute of Education, Nanyang Technological University, and the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Blackboard’s Ramsey Chambers, Senior Director of Product Marketing also presented about the newly released Blackboard Learn, Service Pack 8 Here is what Ramsey had to say about his time in Asia: “This was a great User Group meeting.  The number of attendees was impressive, the presentations were insightful and inspiring and the discussions really showed the passion the community has about driving innovation with the use of technology in education.  I love visiting Singapore and having an opportunity to learn from what our clients are doing with Blackboard and taking those learnings back to DC and to other parts of the globe.  And this really highlights one of the great benefits of being part of the Blackboard community: you get to absorb and pollinate ideas across a global community of peers.” We are all very excited about the Service Pack 8 release because nearly 600 clients, through Blackboard’s Community Programs, contributed to its development. You can download and view the Client Impact on Functionality & Design Reportfor more information. The powerful message here is that our clients helped shape our technologies. Info about SBUG: Spearheaded by Nanyang Technological University, the SBUG committee was formed by our clients in Singapore. The committee dedicated time and worked with Blackboard employees to put together the first SBUG Seminar. It was a successful event and we are very grateful for the committee’s hard work and passion to achieve a stronger network and eLearning community in Singapore. We look forward to working even more closely with them throughout 2012.
