Greetings from the BbWorld planning team!

As previous BbWorld attendees know, the event is an important opportunity for networking and knowledge sharing that can go a long way toward helping attendees find greater success in their day-to-day work. That networking is part of why BbWorld remains the most valuable training and development event of the year for Blackboard® users. And BbWorld’s pre-conference workshops are where the most intensive, roll up your sleeves, hands on training takes place. This week, details on Blackboard-led workshops were announced, marking the first major BbWorld program announcement.

A full schedule of half-day and full-day workshops will be held on Sunday, July 12 and Monday, July 13, prior to the opening of the main conference. Workshop participants gain important professional development and training, a chance to learn from the experts, and hands-on experience they can take home and implement immediately. Several of the workshops will directly focus on implementing Blackboard Learn™, Release 9.0, offering key insight on administering course delivery, managing collaboration and more. Additional workshop topics include:

  • Course Makeovers: with guided development and peer/mentor feedback instructors make revisions to their own actual courses to take them from a filing cabinet to a dynamic learning environment.
  • Accessibility Awareness: accessibility is not just about adding “alt tags” and “section 508;” learn different techniques to create a more accessible course environment.
  • Techniques for Retaining Students: learn how to leverage Release 9.0 to monitor and evaluate student engagement within the course environment, encourage student accountability, track student progress, and improve student performance and retention.
  • Disaster Preparedness and Recovery: learn about the key parameters, plans and documentation every institution should have in place to ensure that mission critical applications are uninterrupted in the event of natural disasters and other critical situations.

Additional pre-conference workshops will be announced soon, including client-led and partner-led sessions, along with other key program updates, so stay tuned for more details.  And don’t forget as you plan for BbWorld that discounted registration ends soon, on Tuesday, March 31.
