Thank you for following our Common Core blog series. So far we have discussed the importance of not starting with a clean slate, training your teachers with efficiency, and keeping parents informed. This week we will discuss the importance of diving right into using technology as you embrace Common Core State Standards.
We had a chance to chat with Aleigha Henderson-Rosser, the Director of Instructional Technology at Atlanta Public Schools, she suggested to “Dive right into technology! Technology enhances the teaching and learning of the standard.” Atlanta Public Schools plans to align content and curriculum to Common Core State Standards within Blackboard. Additionally, Atlanta will use tools in Blackboard to analyze class and student performance against the standards.
We also had the opportunity to interview Doryiane Gunter, the Program Manager for Virtual Learning at Atlanta Public Schools. We asked her to share how they are encouraging teachers to use technology in their classrooms. Check out what she had to say:
