Making a Real-Life Impact in Your Work – Blackboard Catalyst Awards
It’s not often in life you see tangible or direct results. So many times projects are diluted, the original intent or scope changes or things beyond your control take over. Well, today I got to see an amazing result of our work which gave me goose-bumps. I manage the Blackboard Catalyst Awards and I love this program because I get to see the outstanding achievements of Blackboard clients that results in acknowledgment by our company. But what I *really* get excited about is when a client I know who is very deserving, receives accolades from their institution or organization.
Below is a video of one such example – Greg Frederick, a Blackboard Catalyst Award winner from Joint Forces College/National Defense University. JFC/NDU recently held an assumption of command ceremony (in the military, when a new commandant takes over) preceded by the NDU president, Vice Admiral Rondeau. In her opening remarks, she recognized Greg with his recent Catalyst Award and goes on to read Ray Henderson’s letter of congratulations which was sent to each winner’s supervisors or the head of the institution. Event guests included the head of NATO, the Marines 3-star General from Force Command, retired admirals and generals, as well as a representative from Virginia Senator Webb’s office, just to name a few.
So if you ever ask me why I like working at Blackboard, it’s because of moments like these.
