The following post is written by guest blogger Kenneth Rogers. Kenneth has served as the Blackboard Administrator at University of the Incarnate Word (UIW) for the past three years. With over 7 years in the E-Learning Industry, Kenneth has a passion for emerging technologies and seeing how technology can enhance education.
Almost three years ago, I was at Blackboard World in DC with a co-worker when Blackboard Mobile was first unveiled. As soon as we returned to San Antonio, we continued the dialogue with the Mobile team and proceeded with the first phase of UIW Mobile.
A short three months after we signed our agreement, UIW v.1.0 was live in the Apple App Store. Today’s the day! Our VIP Blogger contest for BbWorld 2012, Blackboard’s education technology conference, closes tonight. So, if you’ve been procrastinating your entry, now’s the time to act. I’ve been amazed with the level of creativity and thoughtfulness that each of these bloggers have put into their entries. I wish you could all be VIP’s! Here’s another clever submission, the first of a few, from Laura Orsetti, an Instructional Designer Frontier Nursing University. Check out her blog for more!
Hmm. Well, who really doesn’t want to be a VIPBbWB?
There is a constant buzz in the Blackboard DC office this time of year – the BbWorld Buzz. It seems like everyone has a hand in planning this year’s conference. Whether coordinating with clients on sessions, brainstorming ideas for focus group topics or creating beautiful designs for the exhibit hall displays, there’s a lot going on here! With so many people working on BbWorld, it’s bound to be one of our best conferences yet.
So why should you attend BbWorld 2012
in New Orleans this summer? There are plenty of reasons to name, but we’ve narrowed it down to a digestible Top Five. Take a look at the brief presentation below, and then decide – “Will I be at BbWorld in July?” I hope the answer is, “Most definitely, yes!”
This year at BbWorld we will announce the New Digital Content & Upgrade Center
. Learn how to guide your school or institution’s digital content strategy and work with consultants to build an upgrade, testing and implementation plan for Blackboard Learn 9.1. Professionals from the publishing industries (McGraw-Hill, Pearson, Wiley, Cengage Learning & Macmillan), faculty experts in course design and Blackboard technology specialists who can help you use Blackboard Learn tools to create your own instructional materials will be on hand to answer questions.
Sessions at the Digital Content & Upgrade Center will address topics such as digital content trends in education, best practices in integrating different technologies into Blackboard platforms and client stories using the current McGraw-Hill integration
. With several new publisher-Blackboard integrations expected to launch this summer, including Pearson, Wiley and Cengage Learning
solutions, we want to make sure you have the chance to see these new solutions “hot off the presses.”
