Schools across the nation have prepared for months for the possibility that the H1N1 flu virus will hit their student population, causing student and staff absences or even quarantines. Forward-looking districts are planning now to ensure learning continuity not only for this potential pandemic, but for future extended student absences.
Recently, Jessie Woolley-Wilson, President of Blackboard K-12, spoke with EdWeek providing information on ways schools can prepare for school closures in the event of an H1N1 outbreak. No matter where districts are in the process of developing a readiness plan, Blackboard is helping them take steps to ensure the school community is informed, engaged, and ready to continue the learning process outside of the classroom. For more information, check out our Blackboard K-12 Education Continuity site.
In late September, Susan Patrick, CEO of the International Association for K-12 Online Learning (iNACOL), joined us on a webinar to review short and long-term frameworks to help schools provide learning continuity. We were also joined by Briarcliff Manor School District who shared their plans for uninterrupted learning.
We look forward to working with districts to help ensure student safety and continued student learning, now and in the future.
