On 22 June 2012, the Society for Pedagogy and Information (GPI) – a scientific society for multimedia, educational technology and media didactics – awarded the Comenius EduMedia Awards to outstanding products in the field of ICT-supported educational media. Blackboard Mobile Learn was awarded the Comenius EduMedia Seal of Approval and the Comenius EduMedia Medal in the category ‘Educational Management Systems (LMS)’.
The Blackboard Mobile™ Learn application gives students and faculty access to their courses, content, and organizations on a variety of mobile devices including Android™, BlackBerry® and iPhone OS. Students and instructors can access documents in multiple formats, read announcements, create discussion threads, upload media, create content items within the course map, comment on blogs and more—all on the mobile devices they love. This German trailer demonstrates what Blackboard Mobile Learn looks like on the iPad.
With the Comenius-EduMedia-Awards GPI supports pedagogically, thematically and by design outstanding ICT-supported educational media. The Comenius-EduMedia-Awards have been awarded in German speaking regions since 1995 and since 1997 other European countries are participating as well. Since then the Comenius-EduMedia-Awards has become one of the most important awards for multimedia products in Europe.
The award procedure consists of two stages:
1.Stage: Comenius-EduMedia-Seal of Approval (Rating)
All submitted multimedia products will be evaluated according to the catalogue of qualitative criteria and evaluation procedures of the IB&M (Institut für Bildung und Medien) of the GPI. All submissions that pass the evaluation sheet for quality and functioning tests are awarded the Comenius-Seal of Approval.
2.Stage: Comenius-EduMedia-Medal (Ranking)
The best multimedia product of all Comenius-Seal of Approval winners is awarded the Comenius-EduMedia Medal.
The awards were proudly accepted by Nina Kunkel, Blackboards’ Regional Sales Manager Mobile D/A/CH (3rd person from the left). On behalf of Blackboard Nina travelled to Berlin, where the awards ceremony took place in the »Haus des Deutschen Handwerks«.
