As we move into the New Year, many regions of the country are experiencing extreme winter storms and harsh weather conditions. Clients of our mass notification services – Blackboard Connect and AlertNow – are relying on us to deliver millions of messages. From districts alerting parents of school closings, to colleges notifying students of modified class times to local officials warning residents of treacherous road conditions, Blackboard alerts have reached millions across the East Coast.
In fact, on December 16 alone, as the Northeast region experienced the first major winter snow storm, Blackboard mass notification tools delivered 2 million messages in just three hours. And over the past week, we’ve helped local governments to send out half a million message to residents along the East Coast, from Boston down to North Carolina.
Likewise, winter rainstorms have lashed Southern California this month, flooding local communities, closing roads and threatening neighborhoods with landslides. In just one county in California, hundreds of thousands of messages – including weather warnings, community evacuations and personnel deployments – were delivered.
