I want to share with you something that I think will be of great benefit. At Blackboard, we know this can be a challenging time of year, to say the least—maintenance, testing, upgrades, etc.—and naturally this can be very stressful. Well, we’ve been working on creating a wiki site for you that hopefully will make whatever activities you’re endeavoring upon as seamless as possible.
We call this our “Back to School” initiative, and the wiki site associated with this effort (available within the Behind the Blackboard site) is designed to address the issues you are currently facing. We have all kinds of wonderful information housed there and I hope you’ll have a look at this great resource.
Housed on the Back to School wiki, you’ll find useful tools and information:
You’ll find information here regarding maintenance, installation and supported technologies. The Maintenance Center also includes known issue reports, release documentation, information on support server and client configurations, as well as links to download hot fixes and service packs.
Don’t reinvent the wheel! In this area you’ll find information based on the lessons learned and successful experiences of others that you can use immediately. You’ll find documentation featuring recommended upgrade paths, and upgrade and maintenance checklists among other things.
This page is dedicated to Release 8.0. You’ll find a wealth of resources here, including information on the new Grade Center, access to the Release 8.0 Upgrade Team page, a Back-up & Restore Guide and much, much more.
This page is designed to simply show you some of the additional services that Blackboard has to offer. No hard sell here—just information.
Instructional Design Resource Center
This is a great site. You’ll be able to take advantage of the information located here and make it available to all of your users. There are instructor, designer and user manuals which will surely come in handy. You also can find a series of “Getting Started” PDFs to help acclimate users to new features in the software.
A listing of upcoming Webinars with a hyperlink to the registration page, should you find something that appeals to you.
This is a wiki page that is accessible all day, everyday, all year long. I encourage you to take advantage of the resources here whenever you like. The Back to School program and the information housed on the Back to School wiki, especially, are available at all times on Behind the Blackboard, not just during the busy times.
