Today’s generation of warfighters are faced with numerous challenges – from evolving threats, to longer deployments, to humanitarian missions. They need learning and training strategies that are agile enough to cope with such a landscape. And that’s where Blackboard comes in.
Blackboard Learn™ is an agile, rapidly deployed learning system that integrates with existing learning environments to provide both the structure and flexibility recommended by Advanced Distributed Learning and trainees, and to accommodate how people are actually learning today.

The Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA), the trade association representing the software and digital content industries, just released the results of their prestigious CODiE Awards. With only thirty-one winners from 395 nominations recognized for industry excellence, Blackboard is proud to take home two awards for Best Corporate Learning Solution & Best Professional Education Solution. Both of these were for Blackboard Learn, Release 9.1 for Professional Education. Also note this is also the industry’s only peer-reviewed rewards program, making the honor even greater for us!
If that wasn’t enough, we also just recently received several 2010 Brandon Hall Excellence in Learning Technology Awards. Brandon Hall is the preeminent research and analyst organization focused on developing learning, talent management and business research to help drive organizational performance.
Blackboard is proud to be recognized in the following categories:
• Best Advance in Learning Management Technology for Blended or Informal Learning (Bronze)
• Best Advance in Social Learning Technology (Bronze)
• Best Advance in Learning Management Technology for Small and Medium Sized Businesses (Bronze)

The Institute for Excellence in Sales & Business Development (IES&BD) has awarded Blackboard with one of four prestigious awards it presents just once a year. We are proud to be the recipient of the Excellence in Customer Partnering Award.
As IES&BD points out, these awards are often referred to as the “Oscars” for corporate and organizational sales and & business development operational excellence, so this is quite an honor! So what exactly is it that we are being recognized for? Customer partnering is when we take our relationships with our customers to the next level. It’s a form of collaboration that combines Blackboard solutions with the customer’s specific needs to deliver the ultimate results in development, integration, and ultimately, OUTCOMES!

Our friends over at the ReadWriteCloud channel on ReadWriteWeb.com recently shared an interesting infographic created by Socialcast that displays how digital technologies have influenced the history of collaboration in the workplace. Beginning with a Darwinian quote about the need for humans to engage (that makes me want to search for @CharlesDarwin on Twitter), the infographic then explores three key areas: the growth of collaboration, the types of workers in the U.S. workforce, and the definition of a good worker.
Take a look at the visual data below to see the progression or click here for a larger version. Then, read my thoughts after the jump.

We are excited to announce our plans for an improved learning management solution for corporations and other learning focused organizations that will emphasize training for sales teams. The announcement will be made today at Dreamforce 2010, the cloud computing event of the year.
To support the improved solution, Blackboard plans to develop a new application on Force.com, salesforce.com's enterprise cloud computing platform that would add a range of administrative capabilities to its flagship learning platform, Blackboard Learn(TM). We believe this could truly become the killer app of sales training.
